Terms of use

Last updated 23 October 2026.

In short. Marsa is in beta and free. Use it lawfully and by the community rules. What you share is yours, and you are responsible for it. Marsa comes as it is, without promises, and is not an emergency service. Information in it, prayer times and family relations included, is a guide, not a ruling.

These terms are an agreement between you and Marsa, which is run from the United Arab Emirates (“we”, “us”), for the app at marsa.chat and the Marsa app for Android. By creating an account or using Marsa you accept them, with the privacy page and the community rules, which are part of them.

1. A service in beta

Marsa is being built and tested. Parts of it change, move, or stop, sometimes without notice, and it may be unavailable or lose data. Keep your recovery key and backups, and keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

2. Your account

3. What you share

What you send, post or record stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and carry it only as needed to run Marsa for you and the people you share with. You confirm you have the right to share it, including pictures and details of other people, such as relatives you add to a family tree.

4. Rules and enforcement

Follow the community rules and the law. We may remove content we can see or that is reported to us, limit features, or suspend or close an account that breaks the rules or puts people at risk, and we report child sexual abuse material to the authorities. You can appeal a closed account from the sign-in screen.

5. Tokens and handles

Tokens and handles are part of the test. They have no money value, cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for money outside Marsa, and may be changed, reset or removed.

6. A guide, not a ruling

Prayer times, the qibla direction, visa requirements, halal and pork notes, place details, and the relations, arham, mahram and wali shown in Lafifa are worked out or gathered to help you, and can be wrong. They are not religious rulings, legal advice or official information: check what matters with a scholar, the authorities, the embassy or the airline. The assistant can be wrong too.

7. Not for emergencies

Marsa, its nearby messaging and its emergency network included, is not an emergency service: a message may arrive late or not at all. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

8. Our part

Marsa's names, emblem, design and code belong to us; all rights reserved. Do not copy, resell or misuse them, try to break into Marsa or other people's accounts, or overload it. Links to other sites and services are there for convenience; we are not responsible for them.

9. Ending

You can stop using Marsa and delete your account at any time. We may end your access under section 4, or stop offering Marsa or any part of it; where we can, we will say so in advance so you can keep your things. Sections 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 12 continue after.

10. No promises

As far as the law allows, Marsa is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that information in it is accurate.

11. Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, messages, profits or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim about Marsa is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 UAE dirhams. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and its courts decide any dispute about them, unless the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be taken away.

13. Changes

We may change these terms as Marsa changes. The date at the top says when; we tell you in the app about changes that matter. Using Marsa after a change means you accept it.

14. Contact

Use Feedback in the app (Marsa › Feedback).
